The Position
We are looking for a hardworking and passionate individual who wants to be a part of the Nightingale Family. As an PM on the Service team, you will be responsible for the preparation of detailed estimates for various commercial construction projects, as well as residential building retrofit work in common areas, such as parkade EV and lighting outfits and full building fire alarm upgrades. You will be expected to price sales centers and commercial T.I. projects for our construction partners, as well as open tenders for available work.
Responsibilities
- Produce all costs for tender submission – material, labour, equipment, etc. to develop accurate quotations.
- Review and understand tender specifications and drawings and follow through with estimating process to develop competitive bids
- Manage and evaluate Estimating process / procedure compliance and create consistency.
- Manage and incorporate scope changes
- Engage suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing to incorporate into estimate
- Develop innovative ideas during the management process to maximize cost savings and increase our competitivity.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, clarify specification, wording, etc.
- Participate in closing the bid, startup and wrap up meetings and debriefs following the project completion
- Communicating with the installation team on a regular basis to assist with cost control and project status
- Be able to lead, organize, coach a crew of workers to install equipment as per electrical drawings
- Providing timely updates on progress and forecasting trends to the General Manager
- Help manage a team of Service Technicians and Apprentices to meet and complete project objectives
- Preparation of billing material and information for project billing each month to send to accounting team
- Processing and pricing of Change Orders for ongoing projects
- Working with site team to make accurate schedules and reach project goal deadlines
Qualifications
- Electrical Red Seal or FSR Certificate
- Diploma in Project / Construction Management an asset
- 2 or more years experience as a Project Manager/Estimator for electrical projects
- Experience in construction estimating
- Excellent knowledge of industry products, practices, and standards
- Knowledge of engineering software and engineering skills an asset
- Experience with ACCUBID estimating software is an asset
- Experience in working with Microsoft Office applications: Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Demonstrated organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent ability to think critically and problem solve
- Scheduling, cost control and contract management experience
- Highly motivated with an ability to work under minimal supervision
- Ability to learn processes quickly and prioritize client requirements
